Advanced Construction Robotics IronBOT
By Advanced Construction Robotics
IronBOT from Advanced Construction Robotics lifts, carries and places rebar on bridge decks.
IronBOT places transverse and longitudinal epoxy-coated or black rebar on bridge decks. A robot supervisor positions the robot at the first bar location with a transmitter; IronBOT then tracks its own position, uses cameras to grab each bar that is fed to it and places it at the correct height. After each bar the robot moves on to the next location. According to the manufacturer, IronBOT places an average of 5,000 lb (about 2,270 kg) of steel per hour, handles bars from 9 to 60 ft long and can be working on site within 6 to 8 hours. The robot needs no pre-programming or BIM model. IronBOT complements TyBOT, which ties the placed rebar. Availability in the Netherlands is not confirmed.
