PreciseFlex PF400

By PreciseFlex (Brooks)

The PreciseFlex PF400 is a collaborative SCARA robot for sample handling in laboratories.

According to the manufacturer the PF400 is the first collaborative SCARA robot and was developed for benchtop set-ups in laboratories. It is a four-axis robot with a horizontal reach of 433 mm (standard) or 588 mm (extended) and a vertical stroke of 400, 750 or 1,160 mm. The axis forces are limited, so the robot can work without a safety fence; the controller, cables and power supplies are built into the structure. A benchtop set-up needs only a mains cable and an ethernet cable. The robot is widely used in life science OEM systems and can handle SBS plates, tubes and vials.

  2. A cobot's payload includes the gripper. A 1 kg gripper on a 5 kg cobot leaves 4 kg for the product.

  3. The safety rules for cobots are set out in ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066. The latter gives limit values for contact force per body part.
