Kassow Robots KR series (KR810, KR1018, KR1205)

By Kassow Robots

Kassow Robots KR is a series of cobots with seven driven axes and 5 to 18 kg payload.

Kassow Robots builds only robots with seven fully controlled axes. According to the manufacturer the seventh axis gives the highest freedom of movement and lets the elbow position be set, so the arm imitates a human arm more closely and works around obstacles more easily. The KR series includes the KR810 (10 kg, 850 mm reach, 25 kg), the KR1018 (18 kg, 1000 mm, 38 kg) and the KR1205 (5 kg, 1200 mm, 26 kg). Joint speed is up to 225 degrees per second. Kassow also lists models such as the KR1410 and KR1805 with more reach. The table lists the three models with confirmed figures from the manufacturer page.

Notable facts about KR series (KR810, KR1018, KR1205), its manufacturer and this type of robot

  1. The KR series (KR810, KR1018, KR1205) comes in 3 models, with a payload from 10 kg to 5 kg.

  2. The first commercially sold cobot was a UR5 from Universal Robots, in December 2008.

  3. A cobot's payload includes the gripper. A 1 kg gripper on a 5 kg cobot leaves 4 kg for the product.

  4. The safety rules for cobots are set out in ISO 10218 and ISO/TS 15066. The latter gives limit values for contact force per body part.
